New season of running ahead
Big welcome back to the summer term of running and a massive welcome to the new beginners who started last night. It was great to see so many of you and to have Jillian, Freya and Penny come along too. It is so much easier to keep going when you are motivated by others who are going through the same "pain"...sorry that should read experience. So I well and truly messed up the GPS last night as it has gone all continental on me and was indeed reading in km not miles still 2 miles is very good going and I was so impressed by you all....and unless any of you took off out of the car park at 20 mph you did not, alas burn over 500 calories...this is what happens when you forget to turn the device off.... however here is the route the beginners took.

Intermediate Group
Is anyone interested in going to the "wee puffer" arranged by Mid Argyll group on May 2nd? It is 3.5 miles along the canal side, a lovely run. Details are on a previous post. Jillian would like to go and is looking for a car share...think it would be great to get together with the other groups, they have a lot of new members. I will go if I am released back into the world or running in time but wont get involved in car sharing just yet as I have to take Freya to band. We need to let Matt know numbers before next Wednesday, also you need your js membership number.
A big welcome to Holly who joined the group last night, I understand that you had a good session with circuits, hills and a reasonable run out round Carloonan, and a sad goodbye to Kerry who is leaving us for the bright lights of Lochgilphead. Thank you Kerry for your support and company over the last couple of years and good luck.

Invitation From Mid Argyll js
Hi all,
You are invited to run in the Jog Scotland Mid Argyll 'Wee Puffer' run on Wednesday 2nd May.
We have organised this for our Jog Scotland members to compliment the Crinan Puffer 8.5 mile run on Sunday April 29th as we thought that there are a number of you who would like to have been involved in the race but felt maybe not quite ready for the full 8.5 miles just yet.
Therefore the Wee Puffer will run from Dunardry to Crinan Harbour which is about 3.5 miles.
We must make it clear though that is just a Jog Scotland fun run to mark the end of our winter/spring season and is not a formal event or race.
It is only open to existing Jog Scotland members and we must ask that if you are not from one of the Lochgilphead Wednesday/Thursday groups that you supply us with your Jog Scotland membership number before the day or unfortunately we won't be able to let you take part.
We want to add a bit more realism to the run and therefore we will time it from start to finish and supply each finisher with their own Wee Puffer time and to help with this each runner will get a number to wear.
Now to the really exciting news! each person taking part will get a 'Wee' goody bag with a memento to mark the occasion. Also any of our Jog Scotland members who have done the big race at the weekend will also get the same goody bag!

In order to ensure that we have the right amount of goody bags and
so that we can start to plan transport please can you email Matthew at matthew.watkiss@live.co.uk
by Wednesday 27th April to confirm if you will be coming along. Please
use Matthew's @live address as shown rather than the more normal work
address just so we can work on numbers on the evenings at home.
We really do
hope you will be able to make it and think that this will be a great evening to
test your progress to date either by completing the distance or setting
yourself a time to beat in the future.
The evening is
completely open to Jog Scotland members who will have already done the Crinan
Puffer 8.5 and in fact we actively encourage you to come along and support your
other Jog Scotland buddies and of course you will get your own goody bag for
good measure!
Finally,
to help cover the costs we are asking for a one off contribution of £3 instead
of your normal £1 session donation.
Really
hope that you will come along,
(The
initial instructions for the run are set out below but we will send them out
again by email before the night and talk you through it again before we start.)
All the best
and please email as soon as you can if you want to run!
Matt and Liz
Instructions
You will need
to make your own way to Dunardry and park at the canal side car park on the
right hand side of the road a little further along from the Forestry walks
car park. We will have a race briefing from this canal side car park
at 6.10pm.
We will start the run at 6.30pm sharp from the mile stone near to Dunardry.
At the finish we will have cool down session, hand out the goody bags and give you your time. Hopefully we will have arranged a few cars to drive us back to the start (volunteers please!)
As this is not a race and only a normal-(ish) Jog Scotland night, there will not be marshals along the route and so you will be responsible for getting from the start to the finish in a safe manner, there is one road to cross at Bellanoch and so we ask you to use your common sense and cross safely at this point.

The route is
relatively flat but the track varies in surface and can be a bit gravely in
places.
We also ask that you be considerate to other canal users especially when overtaking (please let other users know you are approaching).
If you have to
drop out along the route please call Matt on 07970 811159 to let him know how
you are and we will work out the best way to get you back to your car/home.
Post Easter Bun Run...
A very big thank you to all who came to the Post Eater Bun Run, either to run or to help, and for all your baking/gifts. A lovely sunny but chilly day so perfect for a run through the woods and by the shore of Loch Fyne. A very respectable 20 runners both local and from further afield set off on a variety of courses. The three mile out and back was the most popular route with Linda leading the way home in 30.39, Simone from Ormsary was very close behind in 31.08. Third to finish was very strong runner Ruby also from Ormsary third overall and first junior in 33.29. Donald was next along as second junior in 36.48 beating pal Alexander who was next in 39.31, the youngsters really made this race and next came Robbie to jump over the finish line with his Aunt, Liz in 42.12. The youngest competitor Tilly had a fantastic run doing the three miles in 42.55 with Mum Janet just a second behind. Alongside the three mile racers the four milers were finishing in good style with sisters Freya 33.40 and Rosie 35.29 showing their knowledge of the home ground, newcomer to the inveraray jogscotland group Wendy was on Rosie's tail coming back in 35.46. Meanwhile out on the longer route (5.5 miles) a more hilly route was on offer with spectacular views over Loch Fyne. Toby was first to finish in a time of 38.33 almost 8 minutes in front of the next finisher. Second and third place was definitely hard fought over with Garret (46.27) just pipping Dinah (46.40) on the down hills. Next to finish was Penny who has had a great year just getting better and better in 50.22, Guest runner Heather from Tyndrum (56.37) was next in and Jackie from Ormsary who rises to the challenges we throw her way every year was fifth to finish making it in well under the hour in 58.28. Coming in together to end the race were inveraray jogscotland members Alison and Fiona 1.10.32. It was fabulous to see all the children running and to see what we have all achieved over the last few years that we have run together. Well done all!!
