Gigha Challenge Information

Come along, get active and join in the fun by taking part in the 2010 Gigha Challenge.

The Serious Stuff
You can either Run, Walk or Cycle the island. Starting from the shop going first to the North End of the island then South to the South Pier and back to the shop the course is 11.2 miles. The event will be staggered with the walkers and runners setting off at 12pm and the cyclists at 2.30pm. For health and safety reasons, under 16 year olds are not permitted to take part in the run section of the race, they are however more than welcome to join in the walk or cycle section.
Prizes
The Gigha Challenge is primarily a fun non competitive event intended to encourage active participation, however prizes will be awarded to those entrants coming 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each of the three categories. Additional prizes may also be made at the judges’ discretion.
All other entrants will receive a goody bag on crossing the finishing line.

The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust
Additional money raised from entrance fees will go towards the Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust, the body set up in 2002 to conserve, develop and manage the island on behalf of the islanders. The Trust is a charitable organisation and is responsible for a wide range of activities and attractions on the island such as Achamore Gardens
The challenge provides an opportunity to raise funds for the island and should you wish to help a sponsor form is enclosed and we would very much appreciate your efforts.

Party Time Pasta Party
To celebrate the challenge, we will be swapping trainers for dancing shoes and finishing the day off with a pasta party and ceilidh in the village hall. There will be live music, licensed bar, prize raffle draw and of course lots of pasta! Tickets available on the door on the night.
